The Board of Town Trustees met at the office of the Marengo Township located at 4010 North State Route 23 Marengo, Illinois 60152 at 7:00pm.

 

The Marengo June 21, 2010 Township meeting was called to order by Supervisor, Steve Weskerna at 7:00pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

In attendance: Steve Weskerna; Supervisor, John Adamson Highway Commissioner, Becky Johnson; Township Clerk, Tom Kearney; Trustee, Bob Levin; Trustee, Eric Warmbold; Trustee, Ray Jones; Trustee, and Diane Baltazor; Administrative Assistant.

 

-Guests: None

 

-Absent: Jon Klick, Assessor

 

Approval of Prior Month Minutes: Eric Warmbold questioned the purchase price of the 100 weather radios and Steve Weskerna stated that he purchased them for $29 each at Lindows, instead of $33 as stated in the May minutes , saving $4 on each radio. Correction made in posted minutes. Steve questioned if offical approved minutes are posted on our website. Both Bob Levin & Becky reported they are. John Adamson reported that if the Township has no full time employee minutes are not required to be posted. After discussion it was decided the Marengo Township will post all approved minutes for the Township on the web site.

 

Recognition and Communication from Visitors:    

 

 

Bill Submission, Review, and Approval: After discussion regarding bills to be paid to Baxter Woodman and purchase of computers, a motion was made by Tom Kearney to accept the bills as presented. Seconded by Eric Warmbold. Roll call vote of all ayes (5-0) motion carried.

 

Reports:

-Planning Committee:  No new business . Bob Levin said that a discussion began at the last meeting about possibly wiring the Township Hall for “free WI-FI” usage. After brief discussion among the Trustees it was decided more information was needed to make such a decision. Bob agreed to  gather additonal information to discuss at a future date.

 

-Highway Commissioner: John stated that he completed a trash run.  Took 160 tires to Algonquin Township. Finished mowing. Put Marengo Township ID tags on the  6 Tornado Siren poles. Unloaded culverts that were drop shipped to Marengo Township for us and other Townships to save on delivery cost. Installed shoulder conveyor. Cut butt joints in blacktop driveways on Hawthorne RD., and working on shoulder gravel. Repaired wash-out sections along roads. Did truck maintenance. Cleaned up downed trees, from storm on the 5th of June, near Bob Levins house on River RD., on Cox Rd., and further west  of Levins on River Rd. CRF was applied on Hawthorne RD. Received mosquito briquets for standing water. Next Paint Recycling is September 18, 2010 from 8AM to Noon. July 9th is the TOI Conference in Rockford, IL. 

 

 

-Assessor:  Absent    

 

 

-Supervisor:  Steve presented a letter from Wayne Brown for all Trustees to sign and return to him, which was completed. Marengo Fraternal Order of Police requested a donation for the Fishing Derby they hold, a motion was made by Tom Kearney to donate $100 to MFOP, seconded by Steve Weskerna, vote of all ayes, motion carried (5-0).

A request to donate sponsorship of rain barrels from the Marengo Main Street program as part of the Communty Improvement program was submitted. A motion was made by Tom Kearney to donate $100 for a rain barrel, seconded by Eric Warmbold, vote of 4 ayes and 1 abstain by Bob Levin, motion carried (4-1abstain).

TOI is holding an educational confernce on July 9 in Rockford. Eric Warmbold, Becky Johnson, John Adamson, and Diane Baltazor are attending.

State of Illinois will be repairing the catch basin north of River Rd. On east side of Route 23.

  

New Business:

 

Old Business: Steve the Tornado Sirens are completely installed and working. Discussion of how to distribute the remaning weather radiosfor residents outside the range of coverage was held with no certain result. Further discussion will be held at a later date.

 

 The 2010/2011 Town/GA Budget was presented for  approval. A motion was made by Tom Kearney to accept the 2010/20112 Town Budget as presented, seconded by Ray Jones. Roll Call vote of all ayes (5-0), motion carried.

 

The Prevailing Wage Ordinance was presented for approval. A motion was made by Eric Warmbold to approve the Prevaling Wage Ordinance as presented, seconded by Bob Levin. Vote of all ayes (5-0), motion carried.

 

The Pace Intergovernmental Agreement between Marengo Township, City of Marengo, and Riley Township was presented for approval. A motion was made by Bob Levin to approve the agreement as presented, seconded by Eric Warmbold. Roll call vote of all ayes (5-0), motion carried.

 

Roundtable: Tom Kearney informed us he will be out of town next week. Eric Warmbold said he had residents of Seneca Township tell him they are thankful for the recently installed Tornado Sirens due them  warning them during the June 5 storms. John Adamson said he has mosquito briquets he is placing in standing water, and if any one knows of locations to let him know. Ray Jones wants the Board ot consider sponsoring the DARE program entirely in Marengo Schools this fall session, and Steve Weskera said he would speak with the Marengo Police Chief to get more details.
